Hello our deepest ocean allies,
If youâve followed our journey from the beginning, from Seaspiracy the documentary or those early investigations that sparked a global conversation, you know that we never stopped fighting for the voiceless. The scale of the fight demands it. We are driven by an obsessive belief that the truth, when presented clearly and unflinchingly, is the most powerful tool we have.
We rely on your generosity to keep us going. We never signed any agreement with governments or corporations, so we are absolutely free to be fully unapologetic, and not respond to any ties or anyone telling us what to say or what not to.
Giving Tuesday is a day the world dedicates itself to generosity, and it has always been an important moment to secure vital funds.
But we need to be transparent: this year, we are not just engaging with Giving Tuesday, we are relying on it. This approach is new for us, and it feels urgent.
The moment the wave hit us: Why we can never stop
We are sitting in our different homes, looking at the grey winter skies outside, and we are thinking back to the moment the weight of this fight truly settled on our shoulders. That day may be different to every person, and we invite you to reflect on it. When was it to you?
It may have been the day you found out about slavery at sea, or the slaughter of cetaceans in different parts of the world, or the first time you saw the destruction of industrial fishing, the day you saw the first image of a turtle suffocating in ghost gearâŚ
What we all share, though, is the sinking feeling of despair. Is this fight too big? Are we just screaming into a vast, uncaring ocean while the destruction accelerates?
That initial, tiny tragedy you saw, the one that felt inconsequential, is repeated millions of times a day in every ocean basin. To us, the Seaspiracy team, those personal moments became the foundation of our collective, non-negotiable mission. They are our reason for losing sleep. They are our fuel.
This isnât just about saving âthe oceanâ anymore. Itâs about saving that life that sank with us individually and everything it represents. Itâs about saving the next dolphin, the next whale, the next ancient shark that we know is going to be caught in a net designed for maximum carnage. Itâs about ensuring that the feeling of despair and complicity does not win.
This is why we donât stop our fight, and why we keep making real impact.
A critical shift: Returning to the real-time fight
The work we do is tough. We face pushback, threats, and endless institutional resistance from governments and billion-dollar industries that want us to shut up and go away. Our independence, which you fund, is the only shield we have.
Because the lies are still being told: The term âsustainable seafoodâ remains one of the most successful and dangerous marketing myths of our time, enabling massive exploitation under a veneer of responsibility.
Because the clock is running out: Every scientific report confirms what we see with our own eyes. The ocean is in a race against time, and we are its urgent messengers.
Because the ocean is not just water: It is the primary engine of life. It generates over half the oxygen we breathe. When we fight for the ocean, we are fighting for every breath you, your children, and every creature on Earth takes.
The scale of ocean destruction demands a constant, rolling barrage of truth, not just a blockbuster every few years. Thatâs why weâve decided to make a pivot and return to our roots: we want to launch a dedicated initiative to produce a stream of shorter, explosive documentaries that expose specific issues of ocean destruction in real-time, and talk about wider issues people need to understand to react, the content that the ocean is missing.
This rapid-response, high-impact model, the Seaspiracy signature, requires immediate and flexible funding that we simply cannot muster without a focused push like this.
This is where you come in: Your personal mission.
We are a tiny, dedicated team fighting global leviathans. We donât have corporate sponsors or massive endowments. Our budget is really limited, and frankly, every single penny is squeezed to fund our investigations, actions, and production.
This Giving Tuesday, we are not just asking for a donation; we are asking you to personally arm our truth-telling unit for this urgent, new phase of the fight.
If the tragedy of the ocean matters to you, if the thought of a silent, dead ocean scares you as much as it scares us, then please, today, show us your support.
This year, your focused donation on this set day funds our ability to deliver the truth consistently and urgently.
Every contribution, no matter the size, is a personal pledge that you are with us. Itâs a message that says, âKeep going. The truth is worth fighting for, and we demand it be told now.â
Letâs turn this personal, desperate heartache into collective, undeniable action.
